The movie Up in the Air was based on the idea of corporations farming out the unpleasant job of firing people to a professional. What about farming out to a professional the pleasant job of making arrangements for a happy divorce?
No doubt dozens of screen writers are working on it.
On January 20, Le Monde reviewed a business model. “You want to divorce your spouse but daren’t tell her to her face? Bernd Dressler, head of Berlin’s Trennungsagentur, will do it for you, offering several formulas. A simple telephone message (“I’m sorry to inform you…”) costs 29.95 euros, while a written break up will cost you an additional ten euros.”
What a bargain!

Well, Cyrano would have been in the other camp – an agent for marriage not for divorce. Did the Trennungsagentur quote a rate for creating the grounds for a divorce based on adultery? Or perhaps German law would have a problem with that…
