For political scientists: Tuesday’s State of the Union message would turn out to be a goldmine for you. Under the pressure of the need to squeeze in as many keywords as possible into the 140-character tweet stream, President Obama emphasized innovate, educate, build, reform, responsibility. He carefully avoided guns, abortion, Sarah Palin.
For English literature candidates: short poems published during the last two years will similarly yield a harvest of examples.
For music students: choose Philip Glass and John Adams’ minimalism.

Whatever happened to the simple idea that we are most knowledgeable about that which makes us passionate!
A passionate pursuit of knowledge yields more dividends that a knowledgeable pursuit of passion.
(I wrote this only because it sounds clever. As a matter of fact, it makes no sense whatsoever. How can one pursue passion knowledgably? Have you tried?)
I thought President Obama’s speech was wonderful. I was very disappointed when today’s Wall Street Journal was so very critical, if not abusive. However, I don’t know either where the money comes from.
Surely the Wall Street Journal’s line was predictable. I doubt whether any respondent to this blog knows either where the money is gloing to come from. So don’t feel badly about this. Only the author understands that in the age of cyber-globalism you don’t need money.
