Some strategic thinkers believe that China’s current economic explosion will soon fizzle out – because of its inner contradictions and because America, by reason of its astronomical indebtedness, will soon cease to function as its major market – and that India’s future is built on a much more solid basis.
If this is so, Canada may resume a vital role on the world stage. India is international-minded in a sense that China, fixated primarily on its own resource-needs, is not. India and Canada are fellow-members of the Commonwealth. Canadians may be justified in saying, “The Indians are like us; the Chinese are not.”
India may succeed the United States as Canada’s best friend.
