What do you know about the Libertarian Party’s Gary Johnson, the Green Party’s Jill Stein, the Constitution Party candidate Virgil Goode, and the Justice Party candidate Rocky Anders?
Nothing? That is because the two main parties have made sure you don’t. However, the Russians, determined to teach the Americans a lesson or two about true democracy, have come to the rescue. They are presenting the alternative candidates on Russian Television (RT) to compete with the two main candidates tonight.
RT is the Russian CNN. You may, or may not, be able to receive it on your cable system. It could easily be part of your subscription “bundle” without your being aware of it. (In Toronto, RT is carried on Rogers on channel 885, and on Bell on channel 721.)
On the RT website, you can read the announcement of tonight’s program, which will be broadcast live from Chicago. It is assumed that you can watch the broadcast by pressing the “Live” button near the top centre of the home page.
“Larry King, who retired from his role as CNN commentator just last year, says in a press release for the event that being given the opportunity to test the wits of the third-party candidates is a truly exciting opportunity.
“I have interviewed every U.S. President since Nixon, and lest people forget, I helped usher Ross Perot into the national conversation during the 1992 presidential contest. I appreciate the importance of providing a platform to those with real alternative visions for our country’s future, King says.”
