True, it is brutal to force feed geese.
But do not allow any moral scruples to ruin your pleasure in eating foie gras. It is one of the greatest delights available to gourmets and no more brutal than the behaviour of certain corporations that benefit from the cultural pressures force feeding our young people with toxic food leading to widespread obesity.

‘What’s good for the goose..’.
In was one of the interminable intellectual puzzles of my early childhood to figure out what compelled my late grandmother’s (‘babi’) annual ritual to manually force feed a goose that eventually ended up being
ingloriously ‘materialized’ for familial consumption. The reason, it dawned on me much later on, was to be found in her conversion from religion to orthodox ‘communism’.
