David Auerbach, who blogs under the name of “Waggish,” writes about the man who, during the French Revolution, masterminded the Reign of Terror:
“Maligned and celebrated revolutionary leader Robespierre the Incorruptible was indeed incorruptible…but incorruptible people can be pretty scary.”
It follows that it is safer – and certainly more amusing – to keep company with men and women who are at least a little bit corruptible.

There is a difference between ‘incorruptible’ and ‘inflexible’ that not everybody understands. it’s the inflexibility (and almost inevitable hypocrisy) that turns out to be dangerous, not the basic honesty. One can compromise without being corrupt(ed).
