Not a day goes by without reports of a prime minister, general, or simply an M.P., being charged with corruption. Obviously, it is a flexible and highly political crime, defined differently in different countries.
In all jurisdictions, a defence attorney should be able to argue that in the modern world corruption is inherent in the human condition. The natural state of being is to do nothing. Since we have to make a living, work is a form of corruption.

It would be very hard to proof that the natural state of being is to do nothing. To do nothing would be extremely boring. Only very depressed or ill people would fall into this category. What motivates people is recognition, fair treatment and some autonomy.
