In June 1917, when Hitler was on leave in the French town of Fournes-en-Weppes while serving in the German army, he had a brief liaison with Charlotte Lobjoie who was sixteen.
A little boy was born. When he grew up, he fathered seven children of whom Philippe Loret (pictured here) was one. Loret’s father reportedly had the same blood type as Hitler, similar handwriting, and papers that showed that German officers brought his mother envelopes of money during World War II.
None of this is confirmed, but the family resemblance is surely remarkable. (No pictures of his six siblings are available.) He has now spoken to the press about it. He says the secret has weighed heavily on him over the years.
“In order not to get depressed, I worked non-stop, never took a holiday, and had no hobbies. For twenty years I didn’t even go to the cinema.”
Loret also told the papers that after his grandmother died, he found paintings in her attic that were signed by Hitler. As the years have passed, Loret has gradually accepted his ancestry, even hanging photos of the Führer on his walls, and owning a German shepherd.
“It’s not my fault that I ended up as his grandson, or that all the things happened during the war. What he did has nothing to do with me. He will always be family for me.”
Of course it’s not his fault.
The same thing could happen to any of us.

I am stumped. What do you mean? Asking a profound question is no literary device.
A.J.P. Taylor wrote that Hitler had no sex life due to congenital “genital malformations” (sic). Evidently the great historian may have been mistaken.
In the non-fictin book, Grey Wolf, published last October in the U.S., two English journalists state, among many other surprising things, that Hitler had two daughters with Eva Braun, and an affair with Frau Dr. Goebbels in the twenties. One of the children killed by the Goebbels parents, before they committed suicide in May 1945 was, they say, Hitler’s. The journalists support their statements with dozens of footnotes. Since I have not checked their research I am in no position to say that they are wrong.
It’s very interesting, but we’ll probably never find out the truth. I can live with that.
This is not news to me. Have you seen the article in Macleans magazine regarding Hitler’s ancestry?
